CCCMC Held Opening Reception for Its Representative Office in EU
On June 6, 2008, China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals and Chemicals Importers and Exporters (CCCMC) held the opening reception in Helsinki for its representative office in EU.

Representatives from ECHA, Finnish and Helsinki government departments, international organizations and some companies attended the reception. At the reception, Mr. Li Fei, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of China in Finland; Mr. Jukka Malm, Chairman of the Management Board of European Chemicals Agency (ECHA); Mr. Joachim Kreysa, Director of Co-operation Directorate of ECHA and Mr. Riku Rinta-Jouppi, Program Manager of Helsinki REACH Centre addressed their congratulations and positive comments to the establishment of the office.

Madam Li Xiaoni, Vice chairperson of CCCMC, said that “we are very much looking forward to offering our great effort to the benefit of chemical industries in European Union and China, as well as to the benefit of metal and mineral industries of both sides.”

The office has three major functions: creating and strengthening communications with competent government departments and industrial organizations of both EU and member states; providing Chinese enterprises with one-stop services regarding REACH compliance, including the service of “only representative”; and collecting and dealing with trade opportunities and trade protection measures in related industries representing interests of Chinese metals, minerals and chemical industries, so as to facilitate the trade between China and EU.

With the local office in Europe, CCCMC will offer more pragmatic services to Chinese industries for their business in Europe, especially in the aspect of REACH compliance.
